Bryan A. Garner is president of LawProse, Inc., and Distinguished Research Professor of Law at Southern Methodist University. He is the author of the "Grammar and Usage" chapter of The Chicago Manual of Style and editor in chief of Black s Law Dictionary. Garner is also the author of several best-selling books, including Garner s Modern English Usage and, with Justice Antonin Scalia, Reading Law: The Interpretation of Legal Texts and Making Your Case: The Art of Persuading Judges.

What a thrill! !

Had no idea about the book but was buying it for my daughter undertaking law degree. I only realised the importance of the blacks law dictionary to my daughter when I saw her joy n the many thanks I received from her. Thanks for making the dictionary available on amazon at affordable price.

Perfect book for the legal world!

I have been in law school for about to years and this book has made it ten times easier when it comes to legal terms! I absolutely love this book and can use it throughout my career. Perfect buy and will recommend to co-workers and more!

Must have for law newbies

Significant improvements, additions and changes have been made to this since at least the 5th edition which is the next most recent edition I was able to get my hands on at the bookshelf of my firm. I use it daily. It rarely, if ever, lets me down when I need to look up legal terms, with all their specific contexts and respective meanings. And yes, it will explain terms MUCH better than googling things and hoping you land on sources that know as much as Black's.
